Today, Northern (Arctic) Federal University (Russia) welcomed the international expedition "Arctic Floating University - 2015" participants. The research vessel "Professor Molchanov" returned to Arkhangelsk from the twenty-day voyage in high latitudes.

UArctic's Thematic Network on Permafrost arranged an international bachelor summer field school in Svalbard, in June 2015. The field school aimed to provide the students with an overview of the many different research topics related to permafrost, ranging from geoscience, engineering and bioscience to social science.

UArctic’s six new Thematic Networks, approved by the UArctic Council in its 18th meeting held June 14-17, 2015 at the Buryat State University in Ulan Ude, Russia, have now been launched in the UArctic web site.

Alaska Pacific University, the University of Alaska Anchorage and the University of Alaska Fairbanks will co-host the Eighth Polar Law Symposium at the UA campuses in Fairbanks (23-24 Sept) and in Anchorage (25-26 Sept) with the theme "The Science, Scholarship, and Practice of Polar Law: Strengthening Arctic Peoples and Place".
