The International Polar Year (IPY) Education, Outreach, and Communication (EOC) sub-committee held its first meeting in Bremerhaven, Germany, on October 19-21, 2006.




Ten years after its establishment, the Arctic Council continues to grow. Over the years, it has become a major tool for cooperation between the eight Arctic States, allowing them to tackle the common challenges they are faced with today.




On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Arctic Council and the fifth Arctic Council Ministerial meeting, the Ministers representing the eight Arctic states, convening in Salekhard, Russia, signed the Salekhard Declaration on the 26th of October, 2006.
