The Kobbefjord Field Station offers access to an extensive cross-disciplinary ecological monitoring area in low Arctic West Greenland. The monitoring programme NuukBasic study the effect of climate change and variability on terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Nuuk Basic is coordinated with the monitoring programme Zackenberg Basic, in Northeast Greenland through "Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring" (www.g-e-m.dk).

The Kobbefjord Field Station is located at the head of the Kobbefjord ca. 20 km from Nuuk. A field station with two small houses was inaugurated in 2010. The larger is 55 m2 and contains a laboratory, storage facilities, accommodation with kitchen and four beds. The smaller house contains a generator. It is primarily scientists working within the frame work of Nuuk Basic that use the field station. Further, visiting scientists benefit from this station close to the offices in Nuuk.
