Requests to work from the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus in Fairbanks, Alaska will also be considered, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with University of Alaska regulations.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain professional relationships with a diverse stakeholder pool. This will involve culturally appropriate communication and collaboration with tribal entities, Alaska utilities, federal funding agencies and labs, state agencies, and private businesses and industry on a regular basis.
An important part of this position will be managing multiple projects at a time, which will require organizing and leading individuals and groups, overseeing data collection, and tracking deliverables to ensure the timely completion, all the while staying current on the latest developments in solar energy research.
Minimum qualifications include:
- A PhD in the physical sciences or engineering and four years research experience at the postgraduate level in a field relevant to the research (e.g., science, engineering) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
- Academic background in engineering with advanced knowledge of and experience in research methodologies;
- Experience in proposal development, field research, scientific publishing, and procedures required in program leadership and operation;
- Experience in supporting scientific research or arctic engineering; in lieu of a degree in sciences or engineering, training or experience in these fields is desired; and
- Experience in program and project management.
