These courses were selected by our Steering Committee from among proposals submitted by UArctic faculty. They serve as examples of courses developed according to our Circumpolar Studies Curriculum Development guidelines, and they supplement the UArctic Circumpolar Studies core curriculum.
Our exemplar courses are neither fully complete courses, nor just course syllabi. Instead, they are framework courses detailed enough for UArctic faculty to use without significant additional work, but flexible enough to be easily adaptable and extendable to local educational and Circumpolar contexts. They are available for any faculty teaching about the Circumpolar North to use or adapt via Creative Commons licence CC BY-ND 4.0.
The two exemplar courses just published are:
- Climate change and the Circumpolar world (developed by Dr Tara Stehelin, School of Science, Yukon University)
- Representations of the Circumpolar North in literature, film and popular culture (developed by Dr Drew Lyness, School of Liberal Arts, Yukon University)
