This position will be located in Seattle, Washington.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in climate science and extensive experience in handling large data sets, such as in-situ observations, satellite retrievals, global reanalysis products, and outputs from climate models.
Job duties include:
- Independently evaluate and analyze observational data and model outputs (e.g., CMIPs and Large Ensemble Runs);
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals and reports, contribute to and provide expertise for research design, including exploring varied analytic approaches and coding techniques to improve on results and efficiency; and
- Contribute to existing grants/projects and prepare well-documented code/scripts/algorithms for research team members.
Minimum/required qualifications include:
- PhD in atmospheric sciences or a closely related field at time of appointment, equivalent experience cannot be substituted for degree requirement;
- Proficiency in Python, Matlab, and other graphic/data processing packages, and the Microsoft Office suite; and
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
