Managing a fundraising team of two colleagues located in Iceland and Finland, the Executive Director (ED) will work with organizational leadership and the Board to develop a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising plan focused on departmental infrastructure and the creation of a giving platform that benefits UArctic and its partner organizations. The ED will play a critical role in shaping the philanthropic priorities of UArctic, developing a robust pipeline of donors, and creating and implementing donor-facing communications, materials, and events to engage a network of supporters to spur philanthropic growth.
The successful candidate will bring 10-plus years of fundraising experience, preferably within an environmental or advocacy-based organization. A strategic and creative thinker, the ED will have a track record of building and growing sustainable fundraising operations, as well as proven success soliciting and closing six-figure gifts and above. An understanding of, or experience with, international fundraising is an asset.
Working closely with the UArctic team, the Executive Director will serve as the lead fundraising officer for planning, organizing, implementing, and directing philanthropic and nonprofit fundraising activities and programs, including the major gifts program, strategic prospect cultivation initiatives, annual giving, targeted approaches, and special campaigns. The ED will be responsible for designing these fundraising programs, building an international donor base of major supporters (corporations, individuals, trusts, and foundations), and creating and maintaining a prospect research function and management system.
