University of the Arctic – Meetings in Brussels on May 7th 2013

The President of the University of the Arctic, Lars Kullerud, last week held meetings in Brussels with the European Commission, DG Mare, and the European External Action Services. The purpose of the meetings was to update the Commission Officials on the work of the University of the Arctic in general, and in particular to link the UArctic to the on-going process of developing an Arctic policy for the EU.The UArctic could be an excellent tool to implement this policy, but only if the rules of procedures give a real opportunity for the institutions of UAarctic to take part in the new programs for research and education.
