On the first official busines s day of the Forum, an international panel focused on “Challenges & Opportunities in Building Northern Partnerships,” which evoked a good discussion among participants. In addition, during the Rectors’ business meeting, a draft declaration was introduced and was then by the Forum on their final day.
The Forum concluded with further panel discussions and keynote speeches. These included the Ambassadors’ Panel: “Higher Education in the North: Collaboration in Education, Research and Outreach,” as well as two other international panel discussions on 'Academic Mobility' and 'Pan-Arctic Partnerships with Global Impact.'
The Forum's final event brought together participants, including from the Students Forum, at a gala dinner. Some Forum participants will then visit Churchill, the polar bear & beluga whale capital of the world, for a post-event excursion.

The 6th University of the Arctic Rectors’ Forum has concluded in Winnipeg Canada, held from Nov 13-15, 2012. This year, the Forum was attended by 37 presidents and rectors of higher education institutions from all eight Arctic countries. Hosted by University of Manitoba, the theme of the 2012 Rectors’ Forum was "Pan-Arctic Cooperation: Regional Partnerships with Global Impact."
