The Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland, announces a new publication: "Reforming Mining Law in a Changing World, with Special Reference to Finland." The book is based on an international seminar
focusing on developing mining law, held in September 2008.

This publication examines global and regional developments in mining regulation with a special emphasis on Finland, a pertinent case given that the country is in the process of replacing its 1965 Mining Act.
Also of particular interest are northern and Arctic developments, taken up in contributions that examine mining law as it affects indigenous peoples. It also analyzes trends in the law in Canadian Arctic regions.

It is published as part of the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law's (Arctic Centre) publication series (No. 34).
