Grande Prairie, Alberta – While it may be over a year away before international athletes descend upon Grande Prairie aiming to set records and personal bests, the competition to compose the official theme song for the 2010 Arctic Winter Games is just heating up.




Sami University College, a UArctic member since 2001, has great plans for the future. Work is well underway for the completion of a new building for the institution.

A new round of the successful Nordic Master Program is starting up now. This makes it possible to put together a course of study based on core competences at Nordic institutes of higher education. The programme has been praised by the Nordic ministers of education and research.



UArctic visits Finnmark

Andy Greenshaw, vice-chair of the Board of UArctic, President Lars Kullerud and Vice-President Administration visited Finnmark University College in Alta, Norway on November 18, 2008 to discuss cooperation in the context of UArctic.



This is a chance for students to do their international studies in a northern, extreme environment. Also, it is a chance for faculty and researchers to develop collaboration and networking through teaching and supervision of student projects.

The Centre for Northern Norwegian Music Research (SnoMus), at Nesna University College has been supported by the University of the Arctic to create a Master’s of Musicology course, 'Music, Culture and Context in the Arctic' that will be taught by podcast.
