The University of the Arctic (UArctic) is the network of all northern higher education institutions of the world. The over 170 members also include members from non-Arctic states. The UArctic Rectors' Forum in Umeå, Sweden in 2015 asked UArctic to better document actual research cooperation among members, and generally on the Arctic. This led us to create the Research Analytics Task Force. This Task Force has a very strong membership, and includes key leadership from our partners (IASSA, IASC, ICARP III, IPY) and individuals with strong scientific analytics backgrounds. The Task Force has created partnerships with major holders of publication data to enable optimal analysis of bibliometric and other parameters. The Rectors Meeting of the UArctic congress in St. Petersburg in September 2016 praised the results of the task force, support this initiative and the cooperation with Google Scholar. The work of the Task Force will continue as a new UArctic Arctic Research Analytics Institute.
