Representatives of the Russian UArctic institutions took part in the international seminar "The imagination of the North" at the University of Quebec and delivered a lecture "Yakut literature: image, text, modern representation" to students and teachers.  The lecture was devoted to scientific analysis of symbolic images of the North in the Yakut writers’ works.

Scientific cooperation with the International Laboratory for the Comparative Multidisciplinary Study of Representations of the North, University of Quebec in Montreal, will introduce research on material culture, language and world image. It gives an opportunity for collaborative research within the lab with scientists from Canada, France, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Greenland and others. It will also promote the use of the new methodological base for the study of regional materials.

Research on the spiritual culture of the Sakha people received international scientific recognition. Ekaterina Romanova and Lyudmila Zamorschikova (who is the leader of Thematic Network World Images of Indigenous Peoples of the North) became the first Russian associate members of the International Laboratory for the Comparative Multidisciplinary Study of Representations of the North (Canada, Montreal, head Daniel Chartier).

The workshop brought together researchers from Canada, Scandinavia, France and Russia.
